Eco friendly project
Recently we have been involved in an eco friendly project in Kirkcaldy.
"The Comfort Station"
Since this garden has no running water, electricity or mains drainage this composting toilet was a great way to solve the problem, making the garden much more usable for its owners, who live some distance away.
Water is taken from the summerhouse roof and land drains and used to fill the pond, and when this is full, the overflow goes to the vegetable patch.
Willow arches and fences were included in the design to hide parts of the garden from view to give added interest.
A shingle roofed pergola was constructed to give a sheltered seating area near the barbecue.
Materials dug up and found on site were recycled where possible, the path edgings were all reclaimed from the garden.
Log steps up to the summerhouse deck were made from a tree that had to be removed as it was leaning dangerously over a wall.
